The 2006 Audi A4 was officially released as a 2005 mid year model, and when it hit the ground, it was an all new car from the previous generation Audi A4. Audi set out to build a sedan (or station wagon if you are in the mood the the 2006 Audi A4 Avant model) that was intended to go up agains the big dogs from Mercedes, BMW, Lexus, and the new to the scene Infiniti G35 sedan. The 2006 Audi A4 does all that, admirably. With its available 2.0 liter turbocharged four cylinder engine which makes 200 horsepower in the 2006 Audi A4, or a 3.2 liter engine which makes a healthy 255 horsepower with a V6, the 2006 Audi A4 has more than enough power. Putting that power to the front tires is the six speed manual standard transmission, or the CVT (continously variable automatic transmission) in the A4 2.0T. With the 2006 Audi A4 2.0T Quattro (audi for all wheel drive) you can get either the afore mentioned 6 speed manual, or a six speed triptonic automatic transmission. The 3.2 liter sedan gets only one choice for transmissions (the CVT), while it gets the same transmission models as the 2.0T when in Quattro mode.

Either the 2.0T or 3.2 liter V6 are available between the wheel wells of the 2006 Audi A4 in one of two configurations, either in sedan or Wagon ( Avant). While the A4 3.2 comes luxuriously equipped standard with leather, dual zone air conditioning, power 12 way driver seat, auto day time running lights, and a 6 disc CD changer, the 2.0T is almost as well equpped, missing only the leather as a standard option. Which is good, because most 2006 Audi A4′s sold were equipped with the 2.0 T engine. Variable valve timing, intercooled turbocharger, a multistage intake manifold, and direct injection lent to a quick little inline 4. While not as powerful as the 3.2 liter V6, the inline four still puts out a good amount of power in the 2006 Audi A4, with 0-60 in the 6.8 second range with the manual transmission.

Pricing was MSRP: $28,240 -$55,840 for 2006, when the A4 was released.

2006 Audi A4 Avant. By now you know that ‘Avant’ is Audi for station wagon. But this is not the station wagon your parents used to drive. The 2006 Audi A4 Avant is great for those with a family, who also still have that inner craving for a sports car. While the 200 horsepower the 2006 Audi A4 Avant produces is no that of say, the legendary Corvette, it is no slouch either. With a quarter mile time of 15.5 seconds at 92 miles per hour, a zero to sixty of 7.4 seconds, and a top speed of 130 miles per hour, you would expect mileage to be low. But, with the 2006 Audi A4 Avant fuel economy is a nice 22/31 mpg in city/highway driving.
The 2.0T AUdi A4 Avant is powered by a 2 liter turbocharged inline four cylinder engine. In addition to the afore mentioned 200 horsepower @ 5100 rpm, the A4 also makes an impressive 207 lb ft of torque at an even more impressive (and usable) 1800 rpm, thanks to variable valve timing and FSI direct injection. Coupled to the standard automatic transmission and putting power thru the Quattro system (another Audi word. Think all wheel drive), the 2006 Audi A4 Avant can be a pure joy to drive, while still providing plenty of cargo space and seating.
